09/08/2022 - It is believed that the oldest church in Altenmarkt is located under the current church and was built in the second half of the 9th century.[1] In 1074, Archbishop Gebhard donated goods in the parish of Rastat, today's Altenmarkt, to equip the Admont monastery he founded. This name is probably derived from a rest stop on the Tauernstrasse.
