Also known as Torre Colomina, it is a coastal surveillance tower that, together with Torre Valentina, formed a defensive complex for the municipalities of Calonge and Platja d'Aro.

This watchtower is part of a larger network whose function was to warn the population in case of danger, often caused by the arrival of pirates and privateers, especially between the 16th and 17th centuries. As soon as the towers noticed the arrival of a ship, the population was informed by signals and messengers. Due to the increase in these attacks, some coastal towns even had to move several kilometres inland to escape the attacks.
