St Katharine's church sits on or near the site of a pre-conquest church and the parts of the building you see today were built in the 13th century. If you're lucky enough to hear the bells ring (before services and at 7:30 pm on Wednesdays for practice), one that you hear was cast in the 14th century and remains in use today.

The ageing churchyard is particularly pretty, with large trees and crooked gravestones.

The original parish church, St Katharine's, dates from around 1220; it replaced an earlier church built c. 1100, although it is believed there has been a church of some form on the site since c. 675 AD.

The current church has been there for over 600 hundred years and is a brilliant white colour, with dark accents. The churchyard and associated graves lie on ground that slopes steeply down to the A Road.

A the entrance the pavement is in fact two mill stones. This is a great place to stop for a break and explore.
