Bjergvandring
The Bannalpsee is a popular excursion destination in central Switzerland and is located in the municipality of Wolfenschiessen in the canton of Nidwalden. The lake is located in a beautiful mountain landscape at an altitude of 1587 meters above sea level. The Bannalp reservoir is fed by the Bannalpbach and the Secklisbach, the latter of which flows out of the lake. The Bannalp power station is operated by the Nidwalden Cantonal Electricity Works (EWN).

In summer, the Bannalpsee can be reached in 8 minutes with the "Fellboden - Bannalpsee cable car" (s'rotä Bähnli).

There is a wonderful 1-hour circular tour around the Bannalpsee. There are various barbecue options (with wood) at the mouth of the mountain stream in the Bannalpsee. I asked around and found out that you can also swim in the lake.
Various other hiking options invite you to explore the great landscape and for families with younger children there is the Zwärgliweg.
