Impressively large oak. It is difficult for the layperson to assess whether this really dates back to the imperial era. The new refuge right at the intersection of numerous hiking trails invites you to take a break. Mont Trödelöh (the highest mountain in Cologne) and the treading pool are other worthwhile destinations within walking distance.

On November 17, 1908, Kaiser Wilhelm II had the original oak tree planted here. It served French occupation soldiers as a target for target practice. The tree did not survive. Fortunately, a tree grew on the opposite side, which has since been referred to as the imperial oak.
