The church of St. Stephen in Beckum is already occupied in earlier church buildings around 785. In 1267, the parish church received a collegiate foundation, which was abolished in the course of secularization in 1811. She is since then again pure parish church. In addition, she was in 1967 by Joseph Höffner, the then bishop of Münster, in the rank of Propsteikircheh.
