Rifugio Garibaldi is located in Campo Pericoli, in the heart of Gran Sasso. It is a historic refuge, currently undergoing renovation. A room for emergency bivouac is always available. The reopening should be scheduled for the summer season of 2025, but I recommend contacting CAI l'Aquila for updated information: cailaquila.it/rifugi-e-bivacchi-cai-laquila/rifugio-giuseppe-garibaldi-loc-campo-pericoli

Starting from the Campo Imperatore square, take the path that climbs to the right. Arrived at the intersection with the path towards Corno Grande, continue downhill keeping to the left until you reach the Garibaldi Refuge following the signs.
You can stop for a break and admire the spectacle of the Corno Grande that overlooks us.

I visited this refuge starting from Prati di Tivo and traveling through Val Maone. You arrive at the refuge in just over 2 hours of walking. The path is easy and not exposed. Only a good physical condition is required
