Do I need to make a reservation for an overnight stay at Alpenfreundehütte?

When is the best time of year to visit Alpenfreundehütte, and does it operate in winter?

The Alpenfreundehütte is typically open on weekends from early May to the end of October. This period generally coincides with the operating season of the Schneebergbahn cogwheel railway.
