The Ulrich stone remembers the significant battle on the Lechfeld in 955 when King Otto the Great with the army of German tribes defeated the Hungarians.

Immediately next to the Ulrichsbrücke, the city erected a memorial in 1955 on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Lechfeld on the Lechufer facing the city center. The so-called Ulrichsstein was created according to a design by the city building officer Walther Schmidt
