The origin of today's Protestant church of St. James indicates an early history, possibly already at the turn of the first millennium. This church was burnt down by the Hussites in 1430 and rebuilt in 1449. It survived heavy floods and fires and was extended architecturally in 1936 to a dome in the form of an octagon with overlying dome.
The church is located on the market square of Oberkotzau and unfortunately is usually closed.

Very nice church next to the market square below the castle. There was already a Christian community here at the turn of the millennium, which is attested by the construction of various chapels. Presumably the house of God was built around this time. The church was sacked by the Hussites in 1430 and was rebuilt in 1449. It survived severe floods and fires and was architecturally skillfully expanded in 1936 to include an octagon-shaped dome with a dome above it.
