The mill of his father and birthplace was restored by the city of Chemnitz.

Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (born December 1, 1884 in Rottluff (today a district of Chemnitz); died August 10, 1976 in Berlin; actually Karl Schmidt) was a German painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He is considered a modern classic and one of the most important representatives of Expressionism.
