In the course of the Hessian Rhön Nature Park founded in 1967 and the associated construction of a marked hiking trail network in the Rhön with associated parking and rest areas, the 1.5-hectare Gänskutte area made available to the branch club by the then municipality of Lahrbach for its own use became a "nature park goose cowl” explained.
At the beginning of 1971, under the responsibility and direction of the then 1st chairman Rudolf Hartmann, the association began to build the shelter, the pond, the terraced bench combinations and parking spaces on its own.
