The associated buildings fall into disrepair.

Vandring

The new castle in Hummelshain housed a youth work yard during the GDR era. The boys' living groups were housed in a separate building. In the castle park you can understand the history of the property on interesting boards.

It's strange that youth correctional facilities were established in many historic and actually "beautiful" places during the GDR era. I'm thinking of Klaffenbach Castle in particular. In my opinion, this is certainly due to its remote location and the barriers. Ignorance, stupidity, and poor decisions after reunification have led to the area's current disastrous condition. One can only hope that these eyesores can be removed. The history of the youth correctional facility is only mentioned in passing on the information boards.
