According to tradition, the von Eynatten noble family had a chapel built near their ancestral castle, which later fell into disrepair, in the late 12th century, which was replaced by a larger church building around 1440. This was given the name of St. John the Baptist, which became the patron saint of the parish.

The Eynatten parish church, which is dedicated to St. John the Baptist, already existed in the Middle Ages and was rebuilt for the first time in 1707 when Eynatten became an independent parish.
