This is the garden that belongs to the classicist Arentshuis. Here you will find statues of the Apocalypse by Rik Poot and you have a beautiful view of the Bonifatius bridge, the back and the side wall of the Gruuthuse palace, the OLV tower, the terrace of the Arentshuis itself and you also have access to the central Museum shop in the former Coach House.
Until the 17th century, this courtyard was part of the Gruuthuse domain. Now it belongs to the Arentshuis and therefore to Musea Brugge.

Vandring

The Arentshof was part of the Gruuthuse domain until the 17th century. In the 19th century, the house and garden were owned by Aquilin Arents De Beerteghem. The city council wanted to turn his house into a museum and open his garden as a public space. In 1908 the property was expropriated.
Fun fact: The two pillars that you see in the center of the Arentshof are the only remnants of the Waterhalle that used to be on the Markt.
