Vandring

The citizens of the city like to refer to them as “Old Guard” - the more correct designation is “Hauptwache”, historically even “Guard and syringe house”.
In 1918, when the Prince abdicated, the Hauptwache lost its purpose. In the following years she changed roles several times. For example, the tourist office was located in the "Alte Wache" until 1993. Today the registry office uses the premises to hold wedding ceremonies.
