In the Lower Carboniferous, calcareous greywacke and limestone occur locally within the olisthous stream near Heyneberg. Between 1815 and 1831, the limestone marl from Helbigsdorf, among other places, was used to produce furnace slabs in the Freiberg silverworks.
Geological Hiking Trail:
The upper Triebisch Valley is known for the Upper Triebisch Valley Geological Hiking Trail (GWOT), which provides an insight into the geological history and geology of the region and is approximately 17 km long.
