The Schwalheimer Löwenquelle first appeared on May 14, 1903, a successful well. This spring had a completely different composition than the neighboring Sauerbrunnen, which the Romans already knew. The good taste brought a special award: in 1904, at the world exhibition in St. Louis, USA, the water from the Lion Spring received the great prize. The high natural carbon dioxide content was also unusual. Getting it into the shipping bottles was a technical challenge at the time.

Actually, the highlight is and should be the fountain here in Schwalheim. The view of Frankfurt or Taunus is available from almost every point in the area and as I have already written, you could set hundreds of highlight points with the name "View of the Taunus and also Frankfurt" but this "view" is not possible from the fountain area

The Schwalheim Lion Spring (like the neighboring Sauerbrunnen spring) is a calcium-rich sodium chloride bicarbonate spring. It has a constant spring temperature of 12.0°C.

The mineral water is recommended for stomach and intestinal disorders. Due to its high iron content, the water can be used to supplement therapy for iron deficiency. It should not be consumed continuously, but only during a specific course of treatment.
