The Upper Castle is a representative building from 1748 in rural baroque style, which is structured by corner pilasters, risalits and cornices. The spacious double staircase is adorned with stone vases on balustrades. The castle was built from 1748 by the barons of Gemmingen on the site of a medieval castle. It gets its name from its location, above the old castle, which was built in the 16th century. Between 1951 and 1958, the complex and the associated agricultural land were sold to the Gebhard family, whose heirs still live in the castle to this day.

The Upper Bonfeld Castle was built from 1748 by the barons Reinhard, Philipp and Karl Reinhard von Gemmingen. Before that there was a medieval castle here, but unfortunately nothing is known about it. The plans for the castle come from the Baden-Durlach foreman Anton Schroz from Emmendingen. It is not known exactly when the castle was completed. But it probably dragged on until 1774.
