These wayside crosses were erected as visible symbols and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and aims to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who overcame death (...). The cross belongs to our lives, just as it did to the life of Jesus.

Hall crosses used to be a popular place to erect at crossroads that people passed on their way to the church. This is also the case with the Hauenstein field cross. It is located on the old church path from Oberschur and the surrounding farmsteads to the parish church in Krombach.
