Zautendorf (colloquially: "Dsaudndoʳf") is part of the municipality of the Cadolzburg market in the Fürth district.
The place was first mentioned in 1409 as "Czwalkendorff".
The church of St. Johannes was first mentioned in the church records in 1533 as a branch church of Langenzenn. This stands above a previous building from the High Middle Ages and received its choir tower in 1591. The cemetery wall was built in the late Middle Ages.

Originally, the St. John's Church was probably a chapel dedicated to St. Burkhard, because it commemorates the still celebrated Kirchweihtermin the community on the second Sunday in October (not to be confused with the "Kärwa", which is in Zautendorf always on the third Sunday in the Celebrated in July). But already in 1490 the church in Zautendorf is named in a document as "St. Johanns Kirchen", after John the Baptist. This was then considered the patron saint of farmers, innkeepers, shepherds, carpenters, weavers and was supposed to protect against teething and hail.
