Vandring
Founded around 1050, Butenheim was one of the oldest fortified castles in Alsace. It belonged to the house of Andlau when it was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War (1618-48). The Andlau abandoned the site and settled on the site of the present castle of Hombourg.
The last remains of the castle of Butenheim were razed from 1860-65, today only a few remains of the walls remain.
