Vandring
The name "Kupferhammer" goes back to the proven copper processing in Bautzen. The copper hammer was first mentioned in the Bautzen court book in 1544, but is probably much older. From 1913 to 1914 the new administration building was built.

The name "Kupferhammer" goes back to the copper processing in Bautzen, which was documented as early as 1544. This reached its peak in the 1920s. In 1925, 9,200 tons of processed copper left the factory. The factory had previously burned down almost completely in 1845, but was immediately rebuilt. At the same time, construction began on a rolling mill, which went into operation in 1846.
In 1933, around 500 people were imprisoned here in a so-called "protective custody camp" before being transported to the Hohnstein concentration camp, although this only lasted for a short time.
