The Burgstetten is one of those typical porphyry hills in the Saalekreis.
It rises about 140 meters above sea level in the district of Niemberg. Porphyry is a popular building material, here too the rock has been mined for years.
Mother Nature has transformed the former quarry into an idyllic spot with a small lake and lush vegetation.
Stone Age people, Germans and Slavs have already settled on and on this hill. Archaeological finds that are exhibited in the Niemberg home room testify to this.
