One of the most distinctive buildings in the Kirchviertel is the "Alte Dampfbäckerei". The two-storey clinker building was built in the mid-19th century as a factory and commercial building. Among other things, it served as a grocery store, oil mill, salt store and was last used by the bakery cooperative. After 1989 the house stood empty and was falling into disrepair. From 1992 the building was restored. Today it is a socio-cultural meeting place and is available for cultural, artistic and social matters as well as for sociable evenings or discussions and talks.

The "Alte Dampfbäckerei" was built in the middle of the last century as a factory and commercial building. The Förderverein "Alte Dampfbäckerei Seelow e.V." was founded on 14 May 1996 and develops cultural activities in close cooperation with the city administration Seelow.

The restored historic church district adjoins the church built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The “Alte Dampfbäckerei” belongs to this ensemble. The two-storey brick building was erected in the middle of the 19th century as a factory and commercial building. Among other things, it served as a grocery store, oil mill, salt store and was last used by the bakery cooperative. Today a ceramics workshop and a socio-cultural meeting place are located here.
