The spirits manufacturer Doornkaat, which was founded in Norden, ran into economic difficulties in the 1970s and 1980s, it was taken over by Berentzen and is now distilled in Haselünne.

Doornkaat was founded in 1806 in Norden.
The triple-distilled grain is sold in a green square bottle with an alcohol content of 38%.
In 1991 the Berentzen Group acquired the business.
From 1997 onwards, Doornkaat was no longer produced in the Norder distillery.🥃

The grain distillery was founded in Norden in 1806 and was an important employer until the 1990s. In the meantime, the distillery was the largest in Europe. In 1991 the company was bought by the Berentzen Group and in 1992 production was relocated. Doornkaat was produced in the north until 1997.
I still remember the slogan: Male, distinctive, triple burned “... and the headache the next day 😉
