Vandring

Germany's most frequented and highest-selling shopping street. With around 5,500 pedestrians per hour (2018), it's always crowded, no matter what time of year. You don't have to like it, but you can hardly avoid it in the city center.

Kaufingerstraße is the central part of the street of the historical east-west axis of Munich from the Isar bridge, through the valley, Kaufingerstraße, Neuhauserstraße to Schützenstraße. It leads from Marienplatz to the place where a tower of the first city wall from around 1300 originally stood, called Chufringertor after the patrician family of the Kaufringer. It is one of the oldest streets in Munich and a central part of the oldest pedestrian zone in Munich (decided in 1966, inaugurated in 1972) according to plans by Bernhard Winkler (hallo-muenchen.de/muenchen/mitte/vater-fussgaengerzone-9640873. html).

Really beautiful or idyllic is different. Every now and then there is a nice building, otherwise there are quite a few run-of-the-mill shops and a few slightly more interesting ones in between.
