Gumpoldskirchen was first mentioned in documents in 1140, but it certainly existed some time before this date - but unfortunately the history books don't tell us anything about it. The same applies to the parish of Gumpoldskirchen. Here too we do not know when it was created, whether it was independent from the start or whether it initially belonged to a neighboring parish. The first signs of life from her only appeared in the 13th century. Today the parish of Gumpoldskirchen belongs to the ecclesiastical district "Dekanat Mödling" in the administrative unit "Vikariat unter dem Wienerwald".

The church is adopted from 1200 as a branch church of the mother church Traiskirchen the Melk Abbey. For 1216 a pastor is mentioned in a document. With 1241, the church is under the patronage of the Teutonic Order.

The Gothic hall building from the second half of the 14th century, a defense tower is presented. The church is characterized by the fact that the nave and choir were made in the same width and height.
