Crossing the Condroz, the Hoyoux rises in Buzin, a village in the municipality of Havelange, at an altitude of almost 300 metres. It then flows through villages and hamlets, over hills and through valleys, before finally flowing into the Meuse at Huy, at an altitude of 70 metres.
This significant difference in altitude makes the Hoyoux one of the steepest rivers in Wallonia.

Le hoyoux is a river in Belgium, which rises in the province of Namur and flows into the Meuse in the province of Liège. It is a fast-flowing river that runs through the Condroz area and is known for its natural limestone dams. The river flows past several villages and castles, such as Modave, Marchin and Huy. The name of the river is also the origin of the name of the city of Huy. The river has a length of 28 km and a catchment area of 255 km.
