The Birka area was purchased by the municipality of Mauren in 1971 and its care was transferred to the Ornithological Association.
The Ornithological Association looked after this small nature reserve and built a bird paradise. Today, the Birka Bird Paradise is a popular excursion destination with a children's playground, biotope and clubhouse. Numerous species of birds can be observed. A hike into the nature reserve is also always worthwhile.
There is a kiosk with snacks and drinks at the clubhouse. The bird paradise is free to enter.
