Vandring
The Maria cave on the Riels Hoefke is a place of devotion in the beautiful nature reserve near the Regte heath. Numerous people from the region attach great importance to relaxing in this idyllic location for a moment or simply to light a candle by the 90-year-old statue of the Virgin Mary. However, the statue showed deep traces of impoverishment and even missed the left hand due to wear marks. The Village Collective Riel has restored the beloved Mariagrotje to perfection. The official dedication took place a few months ago.

Mr Vinks had a textile comb company in the 1920s. Out of gratitude for a recovery from a serious illness, he had the cave built in honor of Mary and had it notarized that it should never be demolished, regardless of whose hands it might fall into. And so it happened. The Maria Grotto has been maintained with great care by the hamlet of 't Hoefke.
