The right to operate the ferry was leased by the Count Palatine to the residents of Lampertheim from 1681, In the 18th century there were two trips a week to the market in Worms, the ferry service was discontinued after the land dam was built, The Brandweinbrücke! is so named because of the abundant brandy consumption of the construction workers, so the bridge had such defects that it collapsed and had to be built a second time,
