Adjacent to the tower is a large cistern for the collection of rainwater, used in the past both for the irrigation of the fields and as a water supply, vital in periods of drought and siege. Torre Morea, deployed in the complex of lookout towers, alerted the inhabitants of the countryside during pirate raids with signals of smoke, fire and arquebus shots. Now, the origins of this fort are unknown and the local historiography tells us little or nothing about it.
