Emden proudly displays its heirlooms. In the city, on the Doktor-Erich-Brüggemann-Ufer, the mouth of the Falderndelft flows into the water, two massive cannons: They once stood “to protect the fortress Groß-Friedrichsburg on the coast of West Africa”, thanks to the “von Emden from the operating Brandenburg fleet ”: Elector Friedrich Wilhelm had established his African company here in 1683. Purpose: To make slaves clear in Ghana, to sell them in the Caribbean. Emden's citizenship became a partner and the mayor was given a post on the board.
