Lake Wolayersee lies at approximately 1,950 meters and is surrounded by several peaks with steep rock faces. The lake has no inflow; its water comes from rainfall and melting snow. On the lakeshore, the Wolayersee Hut, a mountain refuge belonging to the Austrian Alpine Club, offers accommodations and meals.

Your hike begins at Rifugio Tolazzi in Collina di Forni Avoltri, which is conveniently located where the paved road ends. You can easily park your vehicle here before starting your adventure.
