09/14/2018 - For centuries, charcoal, slaked lime and resin production formed the economic basis of many residents of the Hohe Wand area. In the nature park, these old traditions can be experienced when the lime kiln or the charcoal kiln are put into operation, or at the show pitch. There are also interesting things to discover about these arduous activities in the alpine and local history museum. The nature park visitor center offers history you can touch. Charcoal, slaked lime and the extraction of resin formed the economic basis of many residents of the Hohe Wand area for centuries.
In the nature park, these old traditions can be experienced when the lime kiln or the coal kiln are put into operation, or during a show.
The lighting of the lime kiln in the Hohe Wand Nature Park is a ritual every year that reminds of the earlier common production of quicklime and the seduction of this product on heavy wagons pulled by persistent horses as far as Vienna.
