The gate consists of two round wall towers connected by an arch. The water passage under the arch could be closed by a gate. A restaurant is now located in the water gate, in an extension (2006) by architect B. Dillen. The roof of the extension has been made part of the park.

The Kamperbinnenpoort is a still-existing city gate in the Dutch city of Amersfoort. The land gate is located on the north side of the city center between Langestraat and Kamp and is part of the first city wall of Amersfoort. It is one of the last remains of this first city wall, the structure of which can still be largely seen in the Muurhuizen, to which the gate was built attached.

The Kamperbinnenpoort was a simple, rectangular gate in the first city wall, dating from the second half of the 13th century. Its original name was Viepoort or Martenspoort.

Outside the moat was an entrance gate with two narrow, octagonal towers and an arch between them. This was connected to the main gate by a bridge. The gate's name refers to the "Vie" (cattle) that was brought out of the city walls from urban farms through this gate. There were meadows belonging to the Sint Maartensabdij (St. Martin's Abbey) in Utrecht.
