Was built by the Germans during WWII. Essentially an underground bunker, much of it is still the same as it was then. A large part is only accessible with a guide, be sure to note the tour times: fjellfestning.museumvest.no

By public transport: to the Søre bus stop, from there various hiking trails to the fortress, approx. 100 meters in altitude.

At the starting point of the tours (that's where the turret was installed at the time) there are drinks, hot dogs and seating.

Are there specific trails or routes recommended for hiking around Fjell Fortress?

Yes, the fortress is situated within a large natural recreation area with various hiking opportunities. Is Fjell Fortress suitable for families with children, and are there specific activities for them?

Fjell Fortress can be a fascinating visit for families, especially those interested in history. Children will likely enjoy exploring the bunkers and trenches above ground. The café in the cannon tower offers a good spot for a break.

What is the policy for bringing dogs to Fjell Fortress?

The overground areas of Fjell Fortress, including the network of bunkers and trails, are generally dog-friendly. However, if you plan to take a guided tour of the underground museum, it's best to check directly with Stiftelsen Fjell festning regarding their specific policy for pets inside the enclosed museum areas.

What are the parking options at Fjell Fortress, and does it get crowded?
