Vandring

After a visit to Mürlenbach, Bishop Arnoldi (1842-1864) announced from the pulpit that the church in Mürlenbach was the oldest Christian place of worship in the Eifel. The parish of Mürlenbach already existed in the 9th century and included the abbey-Primal property on the Kyll. Vandring

Originally the church was probably dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. Relics of St. Lucia were probably brought to Mürlenbach in 970. In 1484 the dilapidated church was demolished and a new one built, dedicated to St. Eligius and St. Luzia was consecrated. The church was then expanded and rebuilt several times. The beautiful high altar inside the church is particularly worth seeing.
