At this location you will become acquainted with the cradle of the Belgian Artillery.

The interpretation and expertise center for artillery GUNFIRE is located on the site of the oldest Belgian firing field.
Large, modern hangars house a wide range of field, anti-aircraft and trench artillery in service with the Belgian Army since 1830. The patrimony of a number of disbanded units is kept and displayed there.

Light aircraft (the former artillery observation from the air) and several armored vehicles are also presented in a didactic way.

Vandring

Klein Schietveld is called 'small' because of the proximity of its bigger brother Groot Schietveld. However, by Flemish standards it is anything but small; a continuous piece of nature of almost 900 hectares is the exception rather than the rule in Flanders.
The military domain is partly accessible and you can enjoy walking, cycling and horse riding. And during the season you can discover the area in a different way via the rail bikes.

The military domain 'Klein Schietveld' in Brasschaat may be small in name, but great in nature. The Klein Schietveld is called 'small' because of the nearby larger military domain 'Groot Schietveld'. By Flemish standards, however, it is anything but small, a continuous piece of nature of almost 900 hectares and partly accessible. Wet and dry heathland, fens, inland dunes and sparse grasslands are waiting to be discovered.
