The bronze statue was created by the sculptor Wolf Spitzer, Speyer, and presented to the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg on the occasion of its inauguration on October 27, 1990.
Its construction was made possible by generous financial support from Haniel, Duisburg - Ruhrort and the Initiativekreis Ruhrgebiet, as well as donations from companies, institutions and private individuals.
The establishment was suggested by Consul Dr. Gerd W. Hulsman on the occasion of his 25th anniversary at Haniel in 1988.

Vandring
One of the miracles performed by the saint was "the calming of the sea storm." Sailors in distress at sea due to a severe storm begged for help in their difficult situation. Then a stranger appeared to them. He took over the navigation and set the sails correctly. Finally, he even calmed the storm, thus saving the sailors. Then the stranger disappeared.
