The Waldkapelle am Scharstein was built in 1759 - at that time probably on open fields.

The Waldkapelle also offers seating with tables for small or larger stopps

The Scharstein Chapel is a small place of prayer in the forest between Dammbach and Heimbuchenthal. According to a legend, it was built in 1759 by a malicious hunter who shot his wife intoxicated at this point, but she was miraculously spared. After that, according to the legend, a ray of eternal mercy entered his heart and from then on he was a good husband and family man. Thereupon he had the chapel built at this point (where at that time there was no forest but field area).
