The Igreja de São Miguel is located in the heart of Alfama, one of the most popular and characteristic neighborhoods in Lisbon. The basilica has ancient origins, probably from the time of the reconquest of Lisbon around the 12th century, but was fully rebuilt between 1673 and 1720 under the direction of the architect João Nunes Tinoco.

St. Michael's Parish Church dominates the small square with its bright facade and striking tower. Inside, it's simple and inviting, while outside, life unfolds in the square in front – perfect for pausing for a moment and soaking up the atmosphere. A lovely stop before continuing your stroll through the narrow streets of the neighborhood.

The Igreja de São Miguel, also known as the Church of St. Michael, is located in the charming Alfama district of Lisbon. This area has been inhabited since at least Roman times and has survived both Moorish rule and a devastating earthquake in 1755.
The church itself dates back to the Middle Ages but was significantly rebuilt after the catastrophic earthquake that destroyed much of Lisbon. The current structure was completed around 1756 by the architect João Antunes. The Igreja de São Miguel is especially important during the annual Festas de Lisboa, a city-wide festival held in June.
