Inside, Gothic, Elizabethan and Renaissance styles are mixed with the Churrigueresque of its notable altarpieces. The altarpiece of the main altar, made by Maximino Magariños in chestnut and walnut wood. The chapels of Bon Xesus, of the Conception and, particularly, that of the Holy Body stand out.

The Basilica of Our Lady is the main church in the old town of Pontevedra and was built on the site of a Romanesque church. The construction of the church was sponsored by the Archbishops of Santiago de Compostela, several local noble families, the fishing guild and the merchant shipping association, as well as brotherhoods.
