The Heyerberg Chapel is the only remnant of the former Heyer fiefdom, which stood further down in the field. The original Heyerberg Chapel was a popular destination for processions, but was demolished in the 18th century. In the 19th century the chapel was rebuilt with the ingeniously designed little way of the cross.

A beautifully located historic chapel with a very well preserved Way of the Cross. Because of the shadow situation an absolutely beautiful place for contemplative rest and take a breather.

Every Way of the Cross, which - like here on the outskirts of Borler - usually leads up a hill, is reminiscent of "Golgotha" ("skull height") near Jerusalem, the place of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The forerunner of the now common way of the cross with 14 stations was a shorter version with 7 stations, often referred to as the "Walk to the Seven Footfalls".
