    The name Alte Eisenbahn refers to a construction site of the Köln-Minden-Thüringischen-Verbindungs-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (KMTVEG) of 1847, which remained unfinished after its bankruptcy as an investment ruin. It was planned to run the later railway line Hamm-Warburg from Paderborn via Borchen and Lichtenau to Borlinghausen. At the heart of the entire area was the tunnel construction that had already begun, which had already been completed by the time construction was discontinued. The public was told that the end of the construction was caused by permanent flooding. Later, the construction was blown up for safety reasons.
