Vandring
One of the oldest mentions of the castle dates back to 1256. Today's water castle was built in the 15th century. The mansion was rebuilt in 1606. It is a two-story brick building. On the outside there are two square towers placed over the corner. In the middle of the side facing the farmyard stands the large, square main tower (1606) to which the bridge feeds. The five-sided outer bailey has only on one side an elongated tract through which access to the main building leads.

Amadeus van der Renne sold Haus Effeld in 1899 to Baron Theodor von Blanckart, whose descendants are still the owners today. The family had the moated castle rebuilt almost true to the original after it was badly damaged in the Second World War.
