Vandring

At the time of the division of Germany, the Palace of Tears was the check-in hall for people leaving East Berlin for West Berlin. An exhibition reminds of everyday life during the division and the tearful fates. As a place of painful separations, the building erected in 1962 at the Friedrichstrasse station was soon called the “Tear Palace” in the vernacular of Berlin.

Entry is free.
Opening hours:
Tuesday to Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

The Tränenpalast is the former exit hall from the GDR to the west. From here, S, R and U-Bahn led to the west. Because of the often heartbreaking tearful goodbyes called the "Tränenpalast".
