Tahtalı Mountain, also known by its ancient name Lycian Olympus, is a majestic summit dominating the landscape near Kemer on Turkey's stunning Antalya coast. Standing proudly at approximately 2,365 meters, this prominent peak is part of the Beydağları Coastal National Park, nestled within the broader Taurus Mountains. It offers a unique "sea to sky" experience, making it a significant natural landmark and a must-visit viewpoint in the region.

Visitors consistently rave about the truly outstanding panoramic views from the top of Tahtalı Mountain. From this elevated vantage point, you can gaze across the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, the rugged coastline of the Turkish Riviera, and the expansive interior of the Taurus Mountains. Many describe the experience as breathtaking, offering a unique perspective that stretches from the sea all the way to snow-capped peaks, even into late spring.

For those planning to ascend Tahtalı Mountain, it's important to be prepared for varying terrain and conditions. While the Olympos Teleferik cable car provides a comfortable and scenic ascent, hikers choosing to tackle the summit on foot should expect a challenging climb. The initial sections from the valley station are often shaded and pleasant, but the upper reaches, particularly from the campsite, become steep and gravelly. Proper hiking footwear and layers of clothing are essential, as temperatures at the summit can be significantly cooler than at sea level.

The best time to visit Tahtalı Mountain depends on your preferred activity. The cable car operates year-round, offering easy access to the summit facilities and viewpoints. Hikers can enjoy the trails during spring and autumn for more moderate temperatures, though snow can persist at the summit from November often into June. Beyond hiking, the mountain is also a popular spot for paragliding, offering an exhilarating way to experience the vast landscape.

Many hikers enjoy the challenge of climbing Tahtalı Mountain from near sea level, ascending over 2,300 meters to the summit. The Lycian Way, a renowned long-distance trail, also traverses the mountain, providing a historic and scenic route for experienced trekkers. While there isn't one single "most popular trail" for the full ascent, various paths lead up, often converging on the final steep sections below the summit.

Reaching the top of Tahtalı Mountain is often described as a profound sense of achievement, especially for those who hike the entire way. The contrast between the lush, shaded lower slopes and the exposed, often snow-dusted summit creates a memorable journey. At the peak, visitors can enjoy the facilities, including restaurants and viewing platforms, making it a comfortable destination even after a strenuous climb. Witnessing the sunrise or sunset from this elevation is a particularly awe-inspiring experience.

Whether you prefer a leisurely cable car ride or a challenging hike, Tahtalı Mountain offers diverse ways to explore its natural beauty and historical significance. Hikers and trail runners can discover numerous routes, from intermediate paths to advanced climbs, each providing unique views of the Beydağları Coastal National Park. The view from the top is outstanding. The first two thirds of the way from the valley station of the cable car are very nice and mostly in the shade. From the campsite it goes over a kind of road steep and schottrig up the mountain. The running here is less fun, but must be, if you end up at 2365 m above sea level. NHN would like to stand! The ride down the cable car costs 140 TL is not so affordable.

Who wants to climb the Tahtali on foot, can virtually climb from 0 to 2366 m. It is the highest mountain in the Olimpos-Beydağları Milli Park and from the top you have a truly beautiful view of the Turkish Riviera!
