Prince Pückler founded the Branitz Tree University as early as 1853 on the grounds of the castle nursery in Branitz. Since 2011, genetically identical descendants of the important park trees have been reared and trained here in order to preserve the local park trees as well as the tree and shrub species that are important in terms of garden conservation and that shape the image of the Branitz park landscape and make it outstanding.

Here Pückler bred his famous pineapple! Next to it is the tree university today. Here, genetically identical trees are maintained by in vitro propagation by the Humboldt University. If an old tree breaks, there is a replacement here

The first 13 climate-adapted oak trees from the Branitz Tree University are in Pücklerallee in Branitz Park. The pedunculate oaks currently in the area are particularly affected by the effects of climate change and are therefore also more susceptible to pests. The newly planted trees are warping oaks. As reported by the Fürst-Pückler-Museum Park and Branitz Castle Foundation, this oak species comes from warmer and drier parts of Europe and should therefore be better suited to the Pücklerallee.
